What act(s) are you considered to be similar
to? Gwar, Maroon 5, Hall & Oates, Elton John, Pete Yorn.
What are your musical influences and favorite
artists? Stevie Wonder, Jon Brion, Maroon 5, Hall & Oates, Elton
John, Steely Dan, The Band, Fiona Apple, Beck, Radiohead, Dr. Dre, Gram
Parsons.
What's the best gig you've ever played and why? A gig
at Piano's on the lower east side of New York on September 21st, 2007. We used
to have a residency there so we felt at home there. Played with our friends
Jukebox The Ghost. The place was packed, people were singing along. Sean was on
fire during "Use Me."
If you don't win what will you do? Head back to
Brooklyn, NY to record a new record, put a tour together, take up karate, and
pursue our dreams of competing in badminton championships and throwing our
television on the grill.
Do you have any rituals before a performance?
Fist pound each other, vocal warm-ups and although the phrase doesn't really
apply we like to say "irons in the fire" before playing.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Sean learned to play piano in college. The Hatch got its start playing biker
bars and run-down saloons throughout the Midwest. We've witnessed our fair share
of bar fights and we've been involved in a few. Austin fronts a hip hop group
called Turtlenex featuring the hot single "Throw It On The Grill."
